So if you stop paying all your credit cards for 6 months before you file and now you have all that money saved, what happens? Will this look bad?

You need to make sure you can exempt it because you have to list all assets, including cash. Check your state exemptions.
I didn't have this problem as I had stopped paying my credit cards years before I filed and all my money was/is going to living expenses.Filed Ch. 7 Pro Se: 12/11/08
