Saving money before you file ch7?

So if you stop paying all your credit cards for 6 months before you file and now you have all that money saved, what happens? Will this look bad?

You need to make sure you can exempt it because you have to list all assets, including cash. Check your state exemptions.

I didn't have this problem as I had stopped paying my credit cards years before I filed and all my money was/is going to living expenses.

Either spend it on things you need and keep record of what those things were, or make sure, as they said above, that the money is covered with your left over exemptions. They will take it if it's not.

Also, if it shows you have too much extra money a month, you may be forced into a chapter 13, even if you pass the means test.
