    Chapter 7 bankruptcy questions...

Filing chapter 7, needing help. About 3 years ago, I received about $20,000 from a housing lawsuit. Most of that went back into my house. I had about $300 left over which I took out around christmastime (honestly not even thinking about bnkrptcy at that time).
After deciding to file recently, I closed that account and received a check for $7.00.
I am afraid to put this down on my bankruptcy (have you closed any accounts recently) as I am afraid of getting into trouble or whatnot about that money.
My next dumb (!) question is that I had an account with direct tv, signed up back in July. I agreed to $29/mo. x 12 months. Long story short, they have been charging $65/mo. I have contacted them numerous times, they agree it was there mistake and will fix it, never did. So I broke my lease and cancelled.
Having no tv, I signed up for dish network as it was much cheaper than cable. I had to sign a lease. Should I list this? Will I get in trouble for doing having done that? I just could not go on being abused by direct tv.
Thanks for any help. I am very lost and confused.

List the closed account. You won't get in trouble. He'll see that it had 7 dollars in it when you closed it and probably won't ask anymore about it. (Still have bank statements for the last year ready just in case). When asked about the 300 at Christmas, it was Christmas....gifts......)

I believe you are allowed a cable bill/satellite bill. If you owe a fee due to breaking the lease just list them on the bankruptcy. They won't ask you why anyone is listed.

      Thank you, very helpful.
Anybody else think it will be an issue that I broke one tv lease but then signed up with another company?
      Uggg, what was I thinking.

Shouldn't be a problem about switching TV service and including the old one in the BK. I posted here in my blog about those jokers at DirecTV, and we are including over 1k in bogus costs from them in our BK. Lawyer just laughed when I told him what happened with them!

So did you end up switching or did you just cancel with them?
If so have you had the creditors meeting yet? I am wondering what they will say.
I was thinking to just leave the new service off the bnkrptcy altogether, but I am not into lying, I am just scared.

I don't think you need to list Dish Network as a creditor but you will list the montly amount on your Schedule J.

If you still owe Direct TV some money list them as a creditor. They will not appear at your 341 meeting.
Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick
