    Spending my tax refund

    Hi All,
Will be getting an 8k tax refund this year. I may not be filing for up to 1 year, but still wanted to make sure that I spend the money the right way. I wanted to replace all of the 25+ year old windows in my house with new impact windows.
I know that car/home repairs are ok, but do u think that this may be considered a non-necessity luxury purchase since it would be an improvement?
    thx

when you hear/read about luxury purchase's they are referring to CC purchase's fixing up the house or car is a good idea as long as you are going to be able to keep it. Don't forget to start an emergency fund hang onto as much as you can exempt.

      Thanks Tew..
the only additional thing that I get confused about is the talk about emergency fund.. From what I've read, unless you are stuffing the mattress with small withdrawals, etc, anything you try to save on the books, ie.. in your checking/savings account, will become the property of the bk estate once you file..
so if you save, in my case, say 10k by not making CC or Rental House Payments, then I have to spend that money on food, clothing, and other expenses so that its legitimated..
      am i correct?
The extra money that im currently getting by collecting rental income and not paying rental mortgages, i will be using to pay taxes on my primary residence and other repairs needed, plus save up to pay lawyer whenever the foreclosures start to get close to bank sale.
