I put 50,000 miles on my car in the first 12 months of ownership. I got ya beat. Blew the car right out of the 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty in no time.

I HATE sales, as you can see. If I was able to get a bunch of you to go ahead and want to place orders, I'd sign up and be a dealer. But see how much flack I get from everyone on it? That's the whole reason why I don't want to be a distributor for them or anyone else. I HATE SALES. I HATE REJECTION. If I had to rely on this to make a living, I'd be homeless right now.

DebtMonster...you seem to know ALOT about cars and oil (lol).
Seriously, why don't you look at doing some type of work in that industry? I've read your posts about working on cars in your younger days. Mechanics earn good money. Maybe not $1k a week, but it could be that you'd really enjoy this type of work being that you are so knowledgable!
You'd probably get an inside edge on finding yourself a good used vehicle that way too, since your wife is refusing to drive the Kia Rio!

Have no desire to do that. I only did the car thing as a hobby. I have ZERO desire to work as a mechanic. I can't stand doing repairs as it is. I use that Amsoill stuff to PREVENT repairs from being needed. I've done a lot of study on the web for the oil. I have tried all kinds of different products to add longevity to vehicles. I used to try all kinds of additives in the past until I found out that none of them are needed. I don't know why they don't remove them from store shelves since the FTC has sued many of them.

Mechanics don't make squat. They pay you PER JOB and not the real PER HOUR that they bragged about in the tech schools. I know many people who work 45-50 hours per week and get paid for 30 hours. NO THANK YOU! I like to work 45-50 hours per week and make pay on 45-50 hours.

What they pay is based on Labor Time Guides which define each repair by how long it will take to correct. The LTG's are pretty accurate. Sometimes it take longer and the mechanic's pay suffers. If the mechanic is good he can ofter "beat" the LTG's and make a nice hourly rate.

I know many who don't and it's no control of their own.

I'd much rather stay in the computer field. I used to make $70k/yr. As a mechanic, there's NO WAY I could ever make that or even close... Plus it would take YEARS before I would start to make any real money. I have no desire to tear up my hands and spent thousands on tools that always get lost or stolen.

I need to find something else. People need to start wanting to buy Amsoil and then I need to find a way to make $70k/yr. selling that. But if everyone wants to argue about it, then why even try to sell it? This is why I hate sales. I've tried various sales jobs in the past and every one of them has sucked more than anything. I can't stand rejection and do not have the patience for rude or ignorant people.

People "want to start buying" a product when they perceive the benefits of the product exceed the cost. With rare exceptions(mostly government interference) you can't sell it otherwise.

That was a long time ago. I 've been paying my lawyer ever since. Last week I just finished paying them in full. I don't have a choice. If I don't, they will short sell this house after the foreclosure and send me a nasty 1099. The tax bill I get will DWARF anything I'd be paying to a bankruptcy attorney. I need to wipe out $360k in debts. I wanna be debt-free after all is said and done.

I am hoping to get the bankruptcy paperwork complete today so I can schedule an appointment to go back to the lawyer so they can file.

How am I to know if they went 40000 miles on one oil change?!? I'd rather pay a bit more- knowing that in a year I can get out of the high interest rate... I dunno, I think it's time for a beer.

I agree, banks can kiss my.... 20% for a car.... good grief.
If you find a car you like, take it to a trusted mechanic and have them look it over. My husband bought a car over the weekend and took it to his shop and threw it up on the rack. He was able to tell that the transmission was replaced (thank goodness) and was able to see that the car was in excellent shape.

Exactly! Like I stated above, my husband has a shop and there are several mechanics that probably make $70K or more. The trick is you have to be better than the time guidelines. It's do-able.

People who use Mobil 1 are the ones who have not done any heavy research into Amsoil.

Amsoil smokes the doors off of Mobil 1, BIG TIME

I used to use Mobil 1 religiously and was paying about $65-70 every 3,000 miles to use it in my previous cars. I had oil burning issues with it where I almost had to have my engine rebuilt. Switched to Amsoil after I learned about it from some friends and all of my problems went away. Totally saved my engine from the rebuild. I've been telling people about it ever since and now I am saving a fortune since one bottle of Amsoil will do what 8 bottles of Mobile 1 did.

In 25,000 miles of of driving I would have easily spent $560 on oil changes using Mobil 1. Now I go the same distance and spend maybe $60-70.

                        Amsoil Synthetic, all the way!

Now I talk about it here to help everyone here save money since many people here are as broke as I am.

We buy the 5 quart container @ Wal-Mart for $25, then an additional 1 quart @ $5. (The Escalade takes 6 quarts) BUT, I drive the Escalade 1-2 miles a day, so we don't change the oil that often.

I could never get my husband away from Mobile 1....Sort of like trying to get him to drive anything but a Cadillac, Pontiac or Chevy...it just ain't gonna happen.

a water cooled engine will last 250k plus with standard oil according to SAE....if you were to check the junkyard, few cars are there from a worn out motor...most cars are junked for other reasons....i alway use synthetic oil, because motors are my passion, but even though i put an obscene amoount of miles on my vehicles, ive never had a motor to wear out..

I was buying the Mobil 1 and filter from Walmart and then bringing it to a place and paying them to put it in. By the time I got all of the oil and filter and paid them, it was anywhere between $60-70 per oil change.

                                Now I do it myself.

He's using Mobil 1 because he has never done any research into other oils. I was just like him many years ago and then I woke up and entered The Matrix.

Mobil 1 is a scam. There's no savings if you have to change that oil so frequently.

Amsoil is only a dollar or two more per quart and it's like having 8 bottles of Mobil 1 for one bottle of Amsoil. It's a no-brainer to use Amsoil. All one has to do is look at the comparison charts and see that Amsoil is superior to Mobil 1 and then you get the perks of going 25,000 miles on it.

I would rather use 5 quarts of Amsoil vs. 25 quarts of Mobil 1. Where's the Walmart savings now?

Let's say Amsoil is $8/qt. and Mobil 1 is $5.

                                5 quarts @ $8 = $40 for 25,000 miles

                                or 25 quarts @ $5 = $125 for 25,000 miles.

Somebody doesn't seem to be paying attention to the math here.

Even if Amsoil didn't last that long, I would still buy it. I only want the best going in my cars. Like they say... "Oil is cheap! Engines are expensive." I don't trust my engine to oils like Mobil 1 since it's not proven by ASTM tests to outperform Amsoil.

For some reason some people here are just not getting the simple math above.

$40 is CHEAPER than $125. That's PLAIN AND SIMPLE. If people here are so tight with money, then just do what I am recommending here and POCKET THAT SAVINGS. Plus your TIME is worth something. If you spend an hour or more driving to an oil change place, waiting in line, driving home, plus the gas money to go there and back and to do that 8x instead of 1 time... that adds even more to the cost of that cheap oil.

                                PLEASE WAKE UP!
