    more nervous than I thought...

    Hi all,

I got my initial paperworkfrom my att'y a couple days ago and finally sat down to read over the Legal Agreement this morning and my tummy began to do flip-flops. I am a lot more nervous than I thought I would be

Mine is a no-asset, simple case so there should be no problems, but it still sucks. I will get in under the 10/17 deadline (talk about last minute!) and I like my Attorney, which helps.

So, I am on my way and want to thank everyone here for answering (and asking!) all the questions. I am sure some were repetitious but your time is appreciated. I'll keep you posted....

Thanks. I read your Feel Yucky post this morning and can definitely relate. Your heading is a perfect description. I keep telling myself it is "OK" and I will be relieved when it is over...but in the meantime

        You will be FINE.........believe me.........
The "not knowing outcome" part of bankruptcy is nerve wrecking, but normally it is all very cut and dry..... especially straight Chapter 7's.....
Afterwards you will wonder why you got sooooo upset........

In fact "making the decision to file" was probably the hardest thing to do.............

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

          Hi Minny,

Thanks. I suppose intellectually we know this (unless something illegal or just sleezy is reason for filing) but this is definitely an emotional event. Because it is so ingrained to pay the bills, have good credit, etc. that BK actually makes you feel like you ARE doing something sleezy or illegal!

I suppose the "making the decision" just hits full force when you start signing on the dotted line...heavy sigh :/

tj, I agree about things being ingrained in us. When you file bk, you feel like you're almost doing a complete about face from all you've done and learned your whole life. It's such a wake up call, too. These days, I do everything on a cash basis, no credit card to fall back on. Wow. No pay check for two weeks? Learn how to live on what you got for those two weeks. It's been quite a lesson so far.

It is hard because credit is pushed at us at ever turn, get a prize for filling out the credit application. Sears card is the "status" symbol, how many cards do you have???? kinda thing. I hear alot of people say, I don't use/have cash, plastic is all I have, which is ok if you can pay off the balance each month, use their money, save your own and earn interest on it, but alot of us have had problems doing that or just let the credit limits get to good to us.
side note - pray for me I only get paid once a month - whether I like it or not. I pay all my bills on the 1st by the 10th, oh well, have to make do. Alot of us do that, live from paycheck to paycheck , I just have to wait longer. (you would think after almost 20 years I would be used to it by now)
Sit down look at expenses, figure high, budget low on the income side and have a safety net built in, that is the lesson I learned. Also for me by having to pay "cash" I think about it longer, do I really need/want it that bad, NOT.
Preaching over, have a great weekend. Future looks bright from here.
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....
