    Filed yesterday

in Northern Illinois District, Western Division (Rockford). Still feel like throwing up. The staff in the office was wonderful, though. The clerk I worked with was a little older--it felt like I was filing bankruptcy with someone's grandmother!

While it's a relief to get the first step over with, I'm still nervous. I filed pro se and parts of my paperwork were a little tricky (income from roommates and when/where to list that and when to list only my income). Hopefully, it will all be OK. And if not, I can always file amendments after the 341 if problems arise. The meeting of creditors is set for March 26, 2 days after my birthday.
I think of my bankruptcy less as "walking away" and more as "gnawing my leg off to get out of a trap".

Heck, you're almost there! Make sure to come tell the rest of us how it feels. We need something to look forward to!

How hard is it to file pro se? I'm thinking of doing it on my own. My case is not complicated.
        9/22/2009 - officially filed chapter 7
        11/03/2009 - scheduled 341 - COMPLETED
01/04/2010 - last day for objections
        01/11/2010 - DISCHARGED & CLOSED

It's not easy, but doable if you have a no-asset, chapt. 7 case. I also had nothing to reaffirm. Get the NOLO book. It explains everything step-by-step.

I wonder if the trustees scrutinize a pro se filing more than they do with a filing from an attorney they have worked with many times.

Anyone have anecdotal information on this one?
Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick
