    irs

my lawyer said he could help with the irs debt. I owe from 2006, I guess it has to be at least 3 years old. Has anyone had help with the irs when filing for BK?

I'm not too sure on this, but I believe you would be looking at filing a CH13 if you owe back taxes.
Someone else with more experience should reply soon!

Do you owe for Tax Year 2006, or do you owe from the return you filed in 2006 (which would be for tax year 2005).

If for tax year 2006, then that tax debt (assuming we are talking about income tax) is a priority, non-dischargeable debt, and can be handled in a chapter 13. If the tax debt is for tax year 2005, you filed the tax return on or before April 15, 2006, and you have not been audited for that tax year in the last 8 months, then that tax debt could be discharged in a chapter 7 if you file your BK on or after April 16, 2009.
