    341 i.d. questions

Me and my wife are planing on filing next month. My wife is not a u.s. citizen, and her purse was stolen so we don't have her immigration green card and we only have her texas state id only. I have been reading in other post that you must show your state id and a social security card, the only way to get another social security is to show your green card and to get another green card is to pay almost $500.00 and that takes 2-3 months to recieve it. Is there any other way to get around this, or do we have to wait to file and get her green card???

    Can anyone please help??

The question aside, you need to get her a new green card asap.

Our child has a permanant resident card, and until we get her a CoC, that thing is protected like liquid gold!

Are adults required to carry the actual card about with them? Due to the value of the things, I would enquire as to just keeping a copy of it in the wallet.

I can't answer your question, I just know the importance of immigration status proof.

I didn't have my SS card, and I used the W-2 from my job. It was perfectly acceptable. I'm not sure how that would work with a green card, but if your wife works, see if her "green card number" is on her W-2...

Sorry if this is no help! I have no clue how this works, just trying to think of a solution that could help.

Hi, She should go to your local Social Security office, and ask them to re-issue her the SS card (just explain the situation). They already have her Green Card info on their system. If you have the Original Letter from the INS (the letter that was send with the Green Card that states her Permanent Resident Status) then take that letter with you at the Social Security office and that should be sufficient to issue her a new SS card. Green Card replacement does take 2-3 months, but she will have to do this sooner or later, because she'll need to show it for her Citizenship. When you send out the I-90 form (the INS Green Card replacement form) make sure that you write PLEASE EXPEDITE on the outside of the envelope and also include a letter asking them to expedite, it might help (it helped me get mine in a month, because I needed to show it for employment).
          Best, Nikki

This must vary by district. In our district the SS card is required - no exceptions.

I, too, was able to use last year's W-2s and tax return forms. I guess it does vary by region or state. OP, please call your local court and explain the situation. Do what they tell you to do.
