Good Morning... I am in the process of planning to file a chp 7.... I will start looking for a lawyer but I don't want to do anything prematurely. I need to wait a couple of months to file as I did used a convienience check to pay my car payment and some other bills in January... I have read that they only go back 60 days before the BK.... Will they look at prior year tax returns? I maid fairly decent money but I just rec'd notice that it will decrease as of March 1st... which will make it even harder for me to pay anything.... I live in Ohio, have a husband and 1 child... and have about $40,000.00 in CC debt with min payments around $1500.00 a month.... a house that is falling apart... worth way less than I owe... so I would opt to just let it go.... when trying to figure out the means test.... would I include my house payment? I would most likely try to just find a house to rent... shoud I do that before I file? Also... do they consider child support as income? It is very few and far between when I do get it but I don't want to have any surprises.... I don't even know where to begin... what types of questions would I ask the lawyers to help me chose one? Any insight would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!!

Hi and welcome to the forum. Good luck on your journey. I myself am new also so I read alot on here. Many times your questions will have already been answered on a previous thread so it is definitly worth the time to read through as many of them as you can. From what I have learned waiting is better when things like conv. checks have been used, and I have read child support is considered income also. Like I said I am new also but there is a wealth of information on here and it will guide you from beginning to the end of your journey, as well as give you support all along the way. I just wanted to welcome you and I know you will receive many more responses from more experienced users to help answer your questions.
