You have to live in a state for a certain period of time before you can use that state's exemptions. But I think that's the only rule; pretty sure you can move wherever you want after it's all said and done and it doesn't matter.

I don't know what full throttle means. I'm just completely amazed that you haven't been labeled a habitual traffic offender and gotten your license revoked for 5 years under the habitual offender laws. You don't have to wreck or get tickets to fall into that category. Things like lack of insurance/driving a motorcycle without a proper license/improper tags etc etc can put you there, also. 3 of most any offense will do it. Personally I don't prefer to even risk that. It's $90 a month man, or $1 a month or whatever super mantastic rate you said. I don't remember now what you said. But regardless, tiny price to pay just to not worry about it. You pay way more than that in interest alone on your car payments, probably. I'd rather pay insurance than make a bank richer.

My BMW is an SUV. We were making $100k/yr. when we bought the cars. We had 3 incomes back then.
Oh please. At the time you had several repos that you still owed on and tens of thousands worth of unpaid credit cards and medical bills. Don't act like you were the epitome of responsibility and could afford that bmw when you bought it.

And your plan of driving for years with no insurance has a kink in it. In Florida, where you live, you cannot renew your tags/registration without current insurance. Eventually you'd get pulled over for expired tags and you could actually get arrested for driving on exprired tags with no insurance.

I think it's funny how you plan to save up a ton of cash to buy a new car that is beyond your means, with no plan to save enough for a place to live. Hope you don't mind sleeping in the back of that SUV.

I never said I drove RECENTLY without insurance. Once again, people are jumping to conclusions.

Who said I was going to buy a car beyond my means. Once again, stop with the jumping of conclusions.

That SUV will be gone within 4-5 months. I can at least say I TRIED. I didn't go out buying a vehicle like that while making $25k/yr. We had a household income of upwards of $9,000 per month. Do the math and work out the percentages of what a $750/mo. payment is. to $9000. It's not much different than somebody spending $300 while making $4000. I WAS WITHIN MY MEANS when I bought it.

You people just like to talk out your ass too much without knowing all of the facts.

Yes, but you owed TENS OF THOUSANDS that you weren't paying. If you couldn't pay the bills you already owed, then you really couldn't afford the bmw. Especially when you had several other cars already repoed and even said yourself that every time you get a job you get laid off within a few months. You had to see that coming again.

Nope. I didn't see it coming. I did what people told me to do... "THINK POSITIVE".

The reason I bought the BMW is because the new car I had prior constantly kept breaking down leaving me stranded. I bought the BMW out of frustration. My credit was so trashed and those repo's were so long ago (long past the SOL), there was no point in paying them back. It wasn't going to help my credit paying things that we no longer on my credit report.

I've been reading old posts and I must say, DM, you're quite the character. You get people all pissed off and then you crack a joke. Some of them are actually a little funny. But overall, man.... I gotta ask... what's your education level, and what lines of work have you been in? Because some of your logic is just so tragically flawed. I'm really beginning to ask myself, is this guy for real? Is he f*cking with all of us?

When I'm frustrated, I buy some candy. Or I get a book from the library. Next time I'll try buying a BMW instead. Did it solve your frustration, or did it further compound it?

I was working 100+ hours per week. I EARNED that vehicle.

I am getting tired of all of the personal attacks. Look at all of my posts on this forum. You NEVER see me doing personal attacks on any individuals on here. My advice is only to help or sympathize. This on-going rags is getting old fast. If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all.

You didn't call me names, no. But you did come on to my thread and tell me to break the law, and not worry, and accuse me of being paranoid and a worrywart. Oh, and then you said I must be a sucky driver (paraphrasing), and asked me if I had a $100k Mercedes. I found the latter the most offensive, because uh, no, I do not, and that's a really stupid question. I have insurance that's in-line with typical city prices. We don't all live in the boondocks and drive 10,000 miles one way to work all for the privilege of saving $30 a month in car insurance.

Telling you that you're paranoid is NOT insulting you.

You need to lose this Type-A personality and chill out. I'm just offering advice. You were all upset and I told you more story. I drove for 4 years without car insurance. 2 months won't kill you.

How many hours of work would you have to do to earn $180 bucks?

Do the math... if you drive from the time you're 18 years old until you're like 75 that's 57 years of paying car insurance. Let's say your average premium in all that time is $1500/yr...

                        57 x $1500 = $85,500 (not including compounded interest)

Most car accidents are all small fender benders. Yeah, there's some totals out there, but lots of people who crash cars can have $3,000 to $8,000 in damage. Insurance is a scam. We'd all be better off if the gov't came and passed a law requiring you to either pay for insurance or have a fund put away to cover accidents. I don't believe in insurance. I've been paying my premiums for over 20 years now and I'm sick of it. All that money going out the door with NOTHING to show for it. I would have rather put it in my pocket and then when an accident comes, I'd have tens of thousands in the bank to PAY CASH to pay off the damage. And if nothing happens, GUESS WHAT? MORE MONEY for my RETIREMENT when I finally do stop driving altogether.

Insurance was started by the mob. It's all a rip off. Health insurance you need. Car insurance is a scam.

I would rather join the mob and not pay any bills other than eating at restaurants.
