    Preferential Payment ??

I plan to file for Chapter 7 in early April and have stopped making CC payments.

With the extra cash I would now like to make final payments of fees for a few of my children's sports teams.

Both payments would be under $600.

Would these qualify as preferential payments that a trustee could potentially recover?

Does the $600 threshold that I see referenced in multiple postings - vary by state?

    Thanks.

I think that would probably depend hoe community oriented that trustee is and if he/she would consider those payments as a charitable contribution to a program that would keep children out of trouble.

I agree and I would stagger those payments a bit. 'Hub

So even though the payments would be under $600 - it is still potentially a problem?

I didn't say that. Isn't it best to be safe? Make it appear you are paying as you can afford this? It is only me, not you so pay as you wish. Now, if any thing else pops up, maybe they would look? I would pay in several days apart, but again, that is just me. 'Hub
