341 Meeting in the AM

I found this forum after I filed, and I greatly regret not having this source of information before. I now feel very unprepared, whereas previously I was not worried about it at all. I basically came looking for a rundown on how the 341 meeting would go, and found horror stories that would perhaps have scared me into taking it all more seriously before.

My laywer seems to think everything will be fine... I will post tomorrow with an update.

It's ironic... when you're at the edge of madness and poverty, you can't afford the lawyer to file. When you finally have enough money to file, you are afraid you have too much.

It sucks that I've been avoiding making bills for three+ years until I could afford to file, and now it might be better if I did have higher rent. It doesn't make sense.

Listen to your lawyer. While you see some horror stories about some lawyers the majority do a good job.

You will do fine. Make sure you have your photo ID and SS card. If the lawyer told you to bring anything else, then do so. Otherwise don't worry about it. Try to go to bed early and get a good night's sleep. [I know, fat chance of that. Have one glass of wine.] Leave plenty early so that you won't have to deal with traffic or parking issues.

When you are through, do as SevenFilerCA suggested and go to the Baskin-Robbins drive-through. Let us know how it goes!

I did the same thing - filed first and then found this website, read the horror stories, and panicked. I then made several amendments where I found tiny, nit-picky mistakes in my paperwork and continued to fret and fret. However, I have had my (I think) successful 341 today, and indeed recommend the Baskin Robbins as a post-341 ameliorative.

Checking back in! Just got back from my 341, and it went VERY WELL!

They were running behind because the couple in front of me was a mess. Their schedule was full of lies, and the trustee called them out on everything. They couldn't explain what had happened to a 500,000 settlement that they had recieved the year before, and didn't even list it in their schedule. They also had filed Chapter 7 two times previously, the most recent being only 4 years ago!! They were refiling because that one had never been discharged due to the fact that they had not turned over their tax returns. They didn't list that either on their schedule. She was ripping them to shreads and then told them they had one month to fix everything and come back.

I was a basket case of nerves after them, but I was the first name called in my group. I was asked a total of five questions (just the basics,) and then.... I was done!

My lawyer was amazing, and very kind. I am so thankful and greatful that this horrible time in my life is almost over.

I am tentatively joining the 60 day club!!!

Congrats!! I just had my 341 on 1-29, and it went pretty much like yours. We are almost done and outta this dark part of our lives
