Bk is a Federal proceeding, why is it not standardized throughout the country - why are the exemptions and rules different in each state? - jb

Probably has a lot to do with the cost of living for each state.

Especially when it comes to secured property like real estate

I am a newbie but I have noticed that in some states you can elect to use the federal standards or your states standards.

It is the exemptions that I was questioning - if one has a home in FL and uses that, the only other exemptions are $1,000.00 for an auto and $1,000.00 for personal. Way below many other states.

It would seem that the exemptions would be standardized throughout the country as BK is a Federal case. - jb
