Anyone know what company this is? We got a call from them and they left a message on our answering machine saying it was an attempt to collect a debt. Anyone had experience with this company?

Isn't OSI collections part of their company? I get letters from both about the same debt.. I'm really gonna miss their pre recorded messages after tomorrow... Especially the nice lady with the brittish accent..$13,569 in CC debt majority in collections.. After a few surprises filed Friday Feb 13th....

You crack me up. That British lady sure is nice.

NCO is annoying and aggressive. Meaning, they will call relatives (even after they've been told to stop.) They will put an auto-dialer on and call your phone number essentially every hour ("Please call us immediately about an important banking matter...") There are more sleazy in my opinion: GC Services, Northland Group, for example (at least for me.)
Since you're filing so soon, they may not be able to be as annoying to you.
Good luck.

NCO are a bunch of bottom feeding scum bags. They also collect for Citi. They will ignore the FDCPA every chance they get and call your friends, neighbors, and relatives if you don't answer the phone every once in a while for them. When I told them I was filing BK and gave them my attorney's contact info they stopped calling. Bunch of sob's.

so will they continue to pursue us after we file or just before? do we need to send infor to them as well or just to the original creditor? we have several citi accounts that we are filing on so it is probably one of those. i do not need people calling any relatives or work about me. wonder if i should answer and give them our sttorney's number?Filed Jan 23rd, 2009

They called our family members even after we asked them to stop and spoke with them. I would record EVERY phone conversation you have with them. They threatened to take us to court and were absolutely vicious. They violate credit laws. We ended up calling them and telling them we were recording the conversation. Verified our name and address and asked that no phone calls be placed to anyone, family, work or us regarding this debt. No contact by mail either unless they planned to take us to court or forgive the debt. We followed up with a letter that stated the same and then they gave up.Filed!!04/23/2008[X] 341 5/27/2008[X]Converted to asset case 5/26/2008 [X]

I think the general consensus is that NCO are scumbags...hands down, but let me tell you just how scummy they are...
Last week I got a collection letter from them. Oh, its no big deal, Ive been getting harassed by them since August. I usually throw them away but since I filed 12-22 and they were included, I opened it to see what they had to say.
They had a ficticious account number and said that Consumers Energy turned me into collections. I called Consumers right away - my balance was paid up and never late in the 5 years Ive had them. They said they did not send me to collections at any point, ever. The amount listed on the NCO letter did not match any amount Ive ever owed, EVER.
Since I changed both of my phone numbers, Im certain they were trying to get me to call them from my new phone numbers so they could trace them and add them to their constant harrassing repetetive phone calls.Retained bk7 laywer 8-12-08, Filed 12-22, 341 Meeting Scheduled 1-29-09

I posted here not too long ago about a creditor who didn't care that I already filed, I was talking about NCO. I had to call them because they were taking money out of my account every month for this debt. When I told them I filed I was transferred to 3 diff people, all telling me how filling will ruin my credit and they told me "don't you think what you're doing is wrong, not paying your debt", basically making me feel guilty. This took over the course of 4 days I called, they were going to do the same thing and I asked to speak to a manager and told them, it finally stopped and I haven't heard from them.
As rotten as they are, they are not the worst, in my experience the worst one was Midland, they are ruthless horrible people, even when I was paying them, they sued me.Filed Chapter 7 Petition: 12/22/2008

Nco
I dealt with NCO for my Sam's account, serviced by GE Money Bank. They called one Saturday morning at 7am and I was ill with them. They have finally quit callg and I have been telling them for over a month that I was filing. They called like clock work about every 30 minutes. I finally set my machine to pick up on the 2nd ring so I could ignore them. The scary thing is that they actually showed up at a 341 hearing here in Pensacola a few weeks ago. I am hoping I don't owe enough money for them to show but after reading other posts they represent AMEX also and we owe them a ton!
