Anyone know a good attorney in Jacksonville FL?

Does anyone know of a good attorney in Jacksonville, FL that is affordable and knows what they are doing? I consulted with one but they were $1500 plus court fee's. I'm not sure if this is the going rate or so.

Hi Drowning: we are not allowed to recommend any person or firm by name. I know you are desperate, but I have to ask that you do not ask in the 'public sector'. However, that does not stop you from looking at the locations that your fellow posters are at, and sending them a PM.

I have already sent one, but will be sending a second PM momentarily.

        Try your local yellow pages.

        Make 5 consultations.

        Compare your fees.

Look up their status and see if they are registered with the local bar at the link below.

Then be on your way to living debt free.

If it costs too much, try filing yourself, and use a certified document preparer.

I don't know who you consulted but I used Lansing Roy and was very pleased.

There is a well know consumer atty in JAX who fights foreclosures, you might try googling for her, if that's part of it.

Get at least 3 consultations, find someone you are comfortable with. We saw three... two were what I call a BK mill. Thats all they do is Bankruptcy. While at our 341 one of the firms we consulted with (and was highly recommended) but we didn't get a good feeling with BTW... the lawyer was late for the appointment, and when he did show up,unknown to the debtor... was a different lawyer, he didn't know the lawyer he had been dealing with would not be there.

Let's say he wasn't happy. But the meeting went OK.

Be sure to ask how many BK's the lawer has done as well. Many have flat rate fees. Two we talked to charged $1500 for a chapter 7, and $2300 for a chapter 13.

              Good Luck.
