Honestly, I don't think this is even for us anymore...although who knows? We keep getting these bizarro phone calls at strange times...this one just came thru at 6p, sweet voice w/a local # to call back, and asking for a female name that doesn't live here, just shares the same first initial of my husband. I was so annoyed that I googled it--nothing, other than saying it was a landline in the city nearest us. So, I called it back. Sounded like a call center background, but they picked up by saying "hello"...when I asked who they were, I gave them this #, they said their customer would have been given our # but they would remove it now....what the hell??? They never would say who they were.....

I normally Google the # and something will usually come up. However, a few of my creditors were somehow calling me with #s containing my local area code. It tricked me a few times into answering, lol. I learned that lesson after a while. It seems like that should be illegal -- to call and portray that you are local, when really you are in a call center in another state or country.Chapter 7 Filed: 12/22/08

Any strange number on your caller ID or anything that says "Unknown" or "Unavailable" or indicates a state like "Colorado" indicates either a telemarketer or collection call. If they do not leave messages, that is what they are._________________________________________

Relief---THANK YOU !!!! That link did show me the name of the company when all the others didn't, thanks so much! (it was a cash advance company, which makes sense, we've been getting calls on our # from other cash places for strangers...)
Bell, I did actually call them back because I was so annoyed/tired of getting creditor calls for someone else, geez, I had enough of my own, thank you very much! But they just answered as "hello" and wouldn't even tell me the name of their company, just that they'd remove our ph#. Hopefully they will, but I don't think we've seen the last of this. We may end up changing our tel#, what a pain!!
