Final attorney consultation today
Met with the attorney today for the consult, and I really feel comfortable with him! Actually took DD (18) with me, she told me after that it was really interesting - she thought it would be boring lol. She's getting quite the education - one that will hopefully keep her from landing in this situation one day!One thing, I think he's being pretty reasonable with his fees -$1800 - I think the other attorney would have ended up in the same place, even though he quoted a much lower number. There are just too many things involved that require extra attention.
We didn't actually sign the agreement, but he gave me the paperwork to fill out, and said we could do that when I bring it in. Then said not to feel like I had to rush with it, take it easy. That was probably because I'm scheduled for my surgery Monday, but I thought that was really nice. Especially since he's not getting paid til I bring it all in.
The other thing I'm pretty excited about is that he's having me fill out the paperwork as if we are going to file March 1st (not May-July like I thought)!! That would be so wonderful to get this ball rolling!
Last but not least, he said definitely don't keep paying the cc's and definitely include DirecTV. Yippee!
Thanks to everyone here who answered my questions - and for all the other wonderful information on this forum. It has made this whole process much less scary.
