    Checking Accounts

Will they automatically close your checking account when you file? Like we owe US Bank a lot and it is all going to be in bk. I don't use the checking account with them there is like 10$ in there. Will they close it, cuz I don't want to go down there and do it and feel stupid. I want them to close it. And besides no driving for me for a month after my surgery.

    Probably won't

More than likely they will NOT close it. If it is a free checking account, just keep it and don't use it. If you are charged a monthly fee, you can close it. However the trustee may ask why it was closed.

I had a business account that was at $5 when we filed. After the filing their monthly charges kept coming and caused the account to go almost $100 overdrawn. I got letters about them taking me to small claims court. When I called to let them know I included it in bankruptcy they stated it didn't matter, and asked if I wanted to pay up and close the account.

After about 10 minutes of bickering back and forth, as I was not about to pay them, I was put on hold. When they came back on the line, they had removed the monthly fee's bringing the account to zero and ask if I chose to close the account. Which I did.
