Ok, I don't want to hijack another thread but this subject is new to me. I live in Wa. State. I've always been under the belief that to keep your home after discharge you need to reaffirm. Am I wrong in this assumption? I really want to keep my home and car, after all it is MY HOME. Is it really possible to keep your home without reaffirming it yet not be responsible financially in case of unforeseen circumstances?
I may need to add, due to the horrible snow storms in my area recently I've been out of work for three weeks and on unemployment. Thank god I go back to work tomorrow. I contacted Country Wide 3 weeks ago and told them I may not be able to pay my 1st mortgage due to these unseen circumstances in Jan (I have a 1st and a second). Can they foreclose on me if I miss a partial January payment if I don't reaffirm? I was told to call them back on Jan 6 to work out a payment plan to catch up since I've never missed a payment since I've owned my home.
Thank you all in advance. Your advise to me has been invaluable and I wish everyone here a VERY HAPPY New Year !
