I am S-L-O-W-L-Y filling out chapter 7 paperwork and I was wondering if you put utility companies that you owe money to under the list of creditor's? They really aren't creditors but I owe them money for missed payments. Thanks for any help.

how much u owe? if its not that much i suggest u pay it, is that a utility bill from an old address, or your utility at the house you are living at?
anyway i believe that that bills goes to collection and usually at the office when i file the petition i put it on the schedule E. i think u need to pay it.
i might be wrong but wait for others to share their opinion.

We were never told to include the utilities in our paperwork--our wonderful lawyer being unehlpful as usual. However, I wish we had, because in the middle of the process our telephone service was taken over by another company, and all of a sudden, we had a $580.00 phone bill and no service with now warning at all. I suppose they got wind of the BK and honored the automatic stay.
Now, having said all of that, before filing, we fell way behind on the light bill, to the point that we had to post a $700+ deposit just to keep the lights on. Because this was a deposit, we HAD to list that in our paperwork as an asset! This helped throw our asset list above the allowed limit, so that we were declared 'an asset' case, and get to purchase our property back from the BK estate, which includes buying this depost back at a 'discofunted' rate of $500.00. S*I*G*H* No, I don't understand it.
Then after we were discharged on Aug. 13, 2008, we got a billing statement from the light company giving us a $1300.00 credit! I don't understand that either, but I'm not going to question it; we're just very thankful."To go bravely forward is to invite a miracle."

if the bill didnt go to collection then u can put that on schedule f but if it did then it will go to E meaning needs to pay.
normally i will put it on the schedule F. ofcourse u gotta state anything that u owe it doesnt matter if its 10 cents. or a dollar its owed and not paid. u gotta list everything. even if u lend some money to somebody u shud put it also. ofcourse we dont have to claim it that way CORRECT ME GUYS!

This is not a reply, but another question about listing utilities. I am new here. I live in San Diego. I am making delinquent payments to San Diego Gas & Electric. I made a deposit $200.00. They didn't transfer over my low income and medical equipment discount for a few months and I had huge bills. I am disabled and didn't realize it, it was quite a big mess, I got different answers everytime I called.
I am going to have to move in about 2 mos. I need to file bk 7. I don't know what will happen with my deposit.
But, I have given up on it and need to not pay them after I file so I can have money to move, etc.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you.

what a difference!

To implement the new deposit they assigned me a new account number. Keep in mind that I was never late on my personal electric bill either.
I hate to ask about dollars, but would you mind saying what you largest monthly bill was approx. then what the amount of your deposit was approximately? If not I understand. Large to me is what I had to pay before $200. Thank you.
