do it yourself chap. 7 ??

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately I'll have to file chap. 7 coming Jan However I was told by a freind that I can do this myself which is great 'cause it excludes all those dirty lawyer fees , sorry lawyers I just can't afford you.

So has anyone ever filed a chap. 7 by themselves? if so any advice or suggestions??? where do i go for all the info??

Hi symetri, welcome to the forum.

Yes, you can do the paperwork for the CH7 yourself. Several members here have done just that sucessfully, notably, FreshLikeADaisy. Sadly Ms Daisy has not posted in several months.

But first, go to nolopress.com and purchase their Ch7 book. It is written in plain English and will become your textbook for going through the process. It has recently been updated, but I think it may still be around $18.00 in downlodable PDF form. They also offer a print version for about the same amount. Nolo always offers a 'freebie' with their online purchases. This is a guide to simple legal matters such as making a simple will, and all of that.

Quintuple check your paperwork and file everything and then check again and make sure you filed everything

...... then check again!

Yes - very possible. But not a fly by nite operation. You have to study, learn, plan. Takes time and patience.

I don't care for lawyers either, but I have felt much more at ease during this process having one. I praise those of you who can do it yourselves.
