They can't tell your boss. That would be a clear violation of the fair debt collection practices act.

What they can do is threaten to sue you and garnish your wages... if that's what they intend to do and are legally able to do. (Just means that they just can't threaten you with things outside their powers. Suing you in civil court, or even small claims court, to get a judgment and then get a write of garnishment may actually be within their right.)

They are some of the most aggressive collectors there are, and since you probably borrowed from a local office, they have local reach.

Just call and tell them (and write them a letter) indicating that they are not allowed to call you at work anymore.

Tell them to stop. If they continue after you notify them (in writing preferred), you can get them for violations, each time they call after that.

        Don't let them win.

Do it in writing. Send it certified mail, return receipt. Once you get the notice back... keep track of the calls.

Then go sue them in small claims every time they call you at work for $1,000.

If you're filing in February, or even March... why are you even paying them?

It is wasted money if you keep paying them and are filing January 26th. But, alas, you already gave them your banking account information.

Once I told Citibank that I was filing Bankruptcy, they havent called since. Have you even told them that?

I would go consult with a lawyer, start the retaining process, and give any creditors the lawyers name and number.

If you pay them, you are just wasting money. They are clearly in violation if you've told them not to contact you at work. They were doing the same thing to me but once I told them I was filing they fell off the face of the earth.

Total waste of money for them, and they know it. Especially if you file the end of January. Before they could even get a case filed and a hearing date set... you would have already filed and been under the automatic stay.

That's why they tend to back off when you lawyer up.

You and the OP should tell them NOT TO CALL YOU AT WORK OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR JOB. They must stop under federal law. If you ignore it they will keep calling and co workers will get suspicious especially the receptionist or whoever answers calls when they just dial 0.

I ignore them because I work in a small area with cubicles and I don't want my coworkers to hear my conversation but you are right, I have to tell them to stop calling my job.
