Credit Unions can be a little sneaky at times so I would suggest that you refinance your car with a different credit union. Then when you file for bk you can include the credit card/personal loans from your original credit without worrying about them not wanting to hand over the title once the car is paid off. Hey you never know if you refinance you could even get a lower rate with the other credit union. You could a least look into it. That my 2 cents. GL

Well, based on this post, it sounds like a reaff is a good idea for you. Others here don't want you to reaffirm because then it leaves you free to give the car back.
I disagree somewhat. When you have a good rate (4%), a decent balance and a decent vehicle, why give it back? If you don't need a vehicle, thats a different matter. JMOFiled CH 7 9/30/2008

Ok, now this post has me wondering.... I have a personal loan through my CU, and also my mortgage. The mortgage has a co-signer. My atty says I can't do a re-affirm on the mortgage because my expenses exceed my income. So, in this case, it seems that MY debt w/ the CU will be discharged in the BK, but the house will still be under the responsibility of my co-signer? Does that sound right?Filed Ch7 BK - 12/10/08
