It will be $.08 for every page you view, if you go in and view the same page 10 times, you will be charged for each time. You will not be billed for it until your balance reaches $10.00.

Be careful with PACER. There were some posters on here in the past who ran up several hundred dollars while on there and did not know that was going on and one person actually had to have those costs put into her bankruptcy filing. We ourselves never utilized PACER which saved us a lot of sleepless nights after filing because when you file, your attorney and trustee handle everything and our attorney sent us quarterly updates as to our plan (or more frequently if we had a question) and the trustee sent one every six months and it didn't cost us a cent.

OP is a Ch 7 case. They should not have any need to check PACER. Even from a law firm standpoint, we only start digging through pacer if a case isn't closing on schedule. Your status after the 341 will most likely only say "awaiting discharge" until your discharge date. Anything that may need attention will come from communications between your attorney and the trustee. These letters will not show up on PACER. If you filed pro se, the trustee will contact you directly. I would wait until the second week of Feb to check PACER for the discharge. Anything that is filed by creditors or the trustee will be emailed through an automatic notification to you or your attorney. If it is something that needs attention, you will know about it by mail, email, or contact with your attorney.

One thing that I would look up after the 341 is if there has been a notice of no asset filed by the trustee. Otherwise, Pacer would be a waste of money.

You get charged for each query. So your original case query is .08 each time you check. Then go to Document History. If the date changed since your last visit, find which doc. Then query and PDF the file. If you do that and not wander , your bill will be at its minimum and you have a copy of everything.

            I like PACER

I disagree about not watching pacer. But I guess it depends on how involved you want to be. I usually check it 2 - 3 times a week. I agree from many posters here that usually, especialy in a chp 7 not much goes on.

But in my case, we've had a bunch of info. There are currently 30 documents filed, we were changed to a asset case, the trustee hired herself, the judge stated we had filed all the required paperwork, etc, etc.

Now that we are considered an asset case, I can also see who is filing claims.

But you do need to be careful. I look specifically at my case, checking status, documents, and occassionally the docket. In 2 months, I have less than $10.00 in charges so far. (In our district, you can see what you have looked at and it will break it down by day and amount of charges) You don't want to do a big query like looking at the trustee, or specific lawyers, in general. This could return hundreds of documents... and hence you get the big charges!
