    Last question for the night!

    Ok you guys were good at awnsering my other questions.

    Now What do you suggest for groups for personal property list? What is the best and easiest?

    I'm not sure how to groups things like...

    Linens, bedding
    school/office supplies
    did you group all furniture in one?
    what about electronics
    Do you put phones in electronics?

    where did you put things like computers desks,
    would you put exercise equipment with sporting goods, bowling balls?
    what about stupid things like coolers/ice chests. LOL I mean they gotta go somewhere, right? Does the worthless crap have to be included somewhere?
    Can someone share the list they used? PLEASE

    I say it depends on how your exemptions work in your State.

    Mine were basically...
    • Miscellaneous Household Goods (consisting of furnishings, 1 VCR, 1 TV, 1 Computer, etc.)
    • Miscellaneous Electronics (outside the 1 VCR, 1 TV, 1 Computer, etc.)
    • Media and Books
    • Sporting and Hobby Equipment
    This was for ease of declaring the exemptions.

    You don't want to get down to 10 pair of jeans, 24 short sleeved shirts... that's too granular.

    FYI, the Bankruptcy code defines "household goods" as...

    (i) clothing;
    (ii) furniture;
    (iii) appliances;
    (iv) 1 radio;
    (v) 1 television;
    (vi) 1 VCR;
    (vii) linens;
    (viii) china;
    (ix) crockery;
    (x) kitchenware;
    (xi) educational materials and educational equipment primarily for the use of minor dependent children of the debtor;
    (xii) medical equipment and supplies;
    (xiii) furniture exclusively for the use of minor children, or elderly or disabled dependents of the debtor;
    (xiv) personal effects (including the toys and hobby equipment of minor dependent children and wedding rings) of the debtor and the dependents of the debtor; and
    (xv) 1 personal computer and related equipment.

          "Crockery" means "pottery or dishes". I think you are thinking of a "crockpot". And yes, people use them all the time!

              China - dishes or plateware you eat off of. it doesn't have to be special occasion. we use hubby's "fine china" every day.
              kitchenware - spatulas, tongs, etc. stuff you'd use in everyday cooking. It can also include your silverware or dinnerware (utensils)

              ETA- we use hubby's crockpot all the time. he makes a mean beef stew. just perfect for the winter months.

                I think it would easier for them to come and see we have nothing of value. LOL
