    Asset case, how long before it closes?

    Filed in February, discharged May 21. Ours was an asset case due to a preferential payment the trustee seemed to intend to recover. I know I have nothing further to worry about, but curiosity is getting the better of me. How long does it usually take before the case is finally closed, and will any further filings or recovery show up in my bankruptcy file?

    Nothing has been filed into my record since September when somebody changed their address.

    Closing can take up to a year..........maybe longer. I was discharged in Feb,06 and my asset case didn't close until Nov.2007. It takes a while for all of the bookeeping to get done..........slow pokes!

    Your case is over and the closing is just administrative. ENJOY YOUR FRESH START!

    Chapter 7 filed - 10/12/2005 - Asset
    Discharged - 02/16/2006
    Case Closed - 11/08/2007

      I'm an asset case and was discharged in Aug. 08 and I'm still waiting for my discharge. The admin. stuff does take a while, but the important part is over so I'm not really concerned about the closing.
