    Chapter 7 timeline question

My 341 meeting was Thursday, Nov.13th. After seeing how most of the cases on this forum closes in a couple of months or so, I don't understand why it's going to take 6 months for mine. (I live in Ga.) I asked the attorney again Friday if it will really take 6 months and he said "yes, because the creditors still have 60 days to object" and then said something else that I'm drawing a blank on but didn't get it when he said it. He said because of the timeline, it couldn't close before 6 months.

    Thanks,

    Toomuch

Its 60 days to discharge doesn't matter where you live. If you have a windfall if you hit the lottery I believe they can reopen your case for 6 months.
Chapter 7 discharges is 60 days from the first 341 meeting.
PS welcome to the 60 day club

Yes, even in complicated cases (like mine) discharge is set for 60 days. It's pretty normal for an asset case to take 6 months or longer to close, but that does not affect discharge. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, ReadytoPuke, this is an asset case. Okay, so I can expect to be discharged in 60 days, but case not closed. What good is it to be discharged if it's not closed?
I guess I better take the online post filing money management class!
