Can I attend a 341 meeting?

Can I attend a 341 meeting? I was thinking about going to the BK Court just to watch and learn a little about whats coming up. Can the Public just sit in?

You betcha you can. Thats what I'm going to do also. Spend all day in there just to see what can happen.

You can (they are usually open to the public) and some people here have gone and listened in on one or more.

But after having been through one which was about 5-10 minutes and reading on here of other people's experiences - its really not that complicated so I think its almost a waste of your time. Well, it would be for me anyway - as ours was in another city, etc.
But if it makes you feel better - more mentally prepared, then why not?

I agree with PoorGrammy, it really isn't worth the time.

We were contemplating doing the same thing...taking an afternoon off and sit in on a couple of of 341s. On the advice of this board we decided not to,and I am glad we didn't. It's pretty straightforward and not very complicated

You will get board very fast. DW was very nervous so we went to our very early we sat through I think 3 and went to have coffee.
You can even look up your trustee so you can go listen to his/her meeting.

If you go to a 341 you may only add to your anxiety.

In anticipation of your own down the road. And it won't necessarily be any indication of what may happen at your own. They are brief and uneventful, really. It is really just a 'going through the motions' sort of- when yours is over you'll be left wondering 'what was the point'? I'd think that as time goes by and billions of people start filing the 341 meeting would be reserved only for petitions that were incomplete or questionable, since they are such a waste of time. My thought actually was that the sole purpose was for intimidation.

how do you find out who your trustee is? Is their only one or several? How do you find out when the 341's are?

I'm not sure who my Trustee is yet, but there are 3 at this BK Court and my Lawyer says 2 of them are decent to work with but the 3rd is horrible....so I want to sit in on him if even for a few minutes. Thanks, Daisy I found it on the internet....I like pics from the 40's 50's so this was cool

i have not filed yet so i dont know, but i want to sit in on a few meetings as well. I went to the website of the bankruptcy court website and clickd on meetings and it takes me to PACER.

How do you find out where and when the meetings are? I went to the court calender and clicked on the 341 meetings page and PACER comes up??

Not sure, my Attorney is in Sacramento but I live is San Joaquin County so I will be using the Modesto Court. I will let you know what I turn up.
