How long till they come for the boat?

ve not made a payment on our Boat since Aug. We are surrendering the boat. How long do you think it will be until they come and take the boat? My attorney told me that he has since a boat lay for 2 years. He says there are so many boats laying in the boat yards, there is no room and the boat yards don' want them. He also said that, they may never come to get it. I don't believe that, but what happens if they don't ever come and get it? How long do they have to remove it?

They can enforce their lien at any time. There is no statute of limitations on liens.

It is likely that it may be forgotten. It's probably like the HUGE SUV problem they have from all the Wall Street Bankers. The Banks don't even want them. They can't even sell them.

However, that's not to say that the Bank may not decide to come and get it at some point in the future. Remember, they have a valid recorded lien (title) against the property. While they may not be able to collect the underlying debt after the Statute of Limitations has passed on collecting the bad debt, it is still their property as liens survive almost anything.

I havent made a boat payment either since August. I went over last night and winterized the plumbing system and am having it shrinkwrapped this week. I figured the same thing that the OP said - our repo boat lot that is a few miles from my house is PACKED loaded. There isnt even room to walk around. I have my money on its going to be a while until they come and get it. Who knows, maybe Ill be boating next year after all

We surrendered our camper. It was not a biggy. They called to make arrangements and sent a company to pick it up. The guy was very nice and friendly and out of my yard in less than 10 minutes. The picked up the camper 2 weeks after our 341. I wouldn't think they would want the camper back that quickly with all the campers and boats for sale in every yard but they did....fast

I think your attorney is right. We were discharged in July and there was not a peep from the bank. We couldn't afford to insure it, to put gas in it, or to register it and we no longer had a vehicle to pull it with so we just wanted it to go away. We called the bank numerous times and finally told them it was unregistered and could be impounded. They came to get it... six months after filing and three months after discharge.

            We have a sailboat

sitting in a marina. We haven't paid slip/storage fees in several years. We bk'd the fees. We have no way to move it. I'm sure we're incurring additional fees even now. When does title change over? Or does it? It's an albatross around our necks.
