    question about selling stuff

As I've said in previous posts me and my children will be moving to Ohio at the beginning of December to join my husband who moved there for a job. In the last couple of days we have decided to file bankruptcy and surrender our Wisconsin house after we have met the residency requirements in Ohio. That will be January though we might file later. Kind of want to get it over with as soon as we can however.

I was told that we shouldn't sell anything prior to Bankruptcy. However... being that we are moving... I always sell stuff before we move. Whether that be an exersaucer on Craigslist or fabric that I don't feel like moving with me. (I'm a seamstress and sew children's clothes) I was just about to list some fabric for sale on my sewing board but now I'm all concerned about that. Will they care that I unloaded some stuff before moving? I use paypal , do they check paypal? I mean, of course if they ask if I've sold anything I will tell them but should I be worried about this? I *really* don't want to move some of this stuff.

Oh and I should say that some of the fabric I have could be sold for like 30.00 a yard...

What about donating clothes and stuff to Goodwill? I mean, I know there is no way for them to know what I gave away before movie. Is this considered different than if I just gave away my possessions to friends before filing?

    I am so confused.

I'm trying to get my house decluttered so that the first time in 4 moves we won't just be moving already unpacked boxes around again. I want to end up with just our basics and sentimental stuff for the movers to pack up...

Thanks. You guys have been a huge help!

You are fine to sell you stuff, just keep track of what you sold, and to whom (name city and state are fine) and then lastly what you spent the money on(it can be general like "Necessary Living Expenses" or specific "tune up on vehicle"). You will list these items in your SOFA(Statement of Financial affairs). Do this and you will be just fine.

    Good Luck

Ok thank you so much!!!! Will this be added to our income? We are like 2k under the limit right now so we should be ok anyway. Not like I will make 12k from my fabric and kids' clothes haha

No, it is only listed in the SOFA.
