3 Year Tax Return Lookback Question

Ok, me & my bf are not really "Married" but we are common law married. We've lived & been together for 7 years. The bankruptcy lawyer told me I need 3 years of my previous tax returns as well as other stuff before I file.

My bf has filed us as married last year 2007 & 2006. Right now I do have to wait 1-2 years for an inside transfer to drop off but it looks like I may have to wait longer if I have to get this married status drop off.

My bf makes over the median amount for filing. Has anyone been in this situation or have advice on what to do? I will be filing single from now on.

Does the state you live in recognize common law marriage? Because not all do.
May 31st, 2007: Petition Filed by my lawyer
    July 2nd, 2007: 341 Meeting Held
September 4th, 2007: Discharged and Closed.

Texas does recognize Common Law marriage. Is this going to be a problem for filing bankruptcy? Do I need to get a legal divorce?

I think its two years for the inside transfer anyway..so looks like you have lots of time to figure that one out. Thats too bad..will you be alright for two years?
