wow, mine may seem puny to everyone here but when I go rent an apartment, a single guy like me will be clean after making the monthly rent and car insurance.

    Providian / WAMU = $10000
    Macy's (GE?) = $8000
    Citibank = $2500
    T-Mobile = $160

Yep.. that would be so nice to only have those bills... plus the electric.

A good friend of mine had no debt. He got into a bad car accident and was sued for $8500. They suspended his license. He had to go bankrupt on this small amount and he was able to get his license re-instated.

That was a long time ago. Since the, he has had open heart surgery at only 44 years old and racked up a $100,000 bill with the local hospital. He's pretty much indigent and unable to pay that. $100,000 would be a good amount to go BK on. Lots of collection agencies would call, but I think they eventually stopped and some how got Medicaid or something to pay for it.

Has anyone totaled up my debts yet?
Do you think I will have any problems going BK with that many creditors or will that cause a problem? I've yet to see anyone post that many people. My BK attorney told me that the average people filing a Ch. 7 typically have 8 to 10 people. I have 5x that amount!

I thought I would be the Bankruptcy King here, but I see several people have outdone me (will have to post more in a competition thread. <wink!>)

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I think most people here tried for years to pay their bills or had an event that caused BK such as illness, loss of job or a failed small business.

DM, you seem to have been financially irresponsible for years, getting evicted and having cars repossessed.

I don't view BK debt as a competition or a laughing matter.

        Add up your own debt.

It wasn't a matter of being financially irresponsible. It as a matter of signing an agreement and then having an employer lay you off with no control on your part. And then you go apply for jobs like a mad man while unable to find any. WHAT ELSE ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO?!?!

You need to lighten up. I am getting read to lose my house and both vehicles and have no idea where I will be next year or how I will even get a car and you don't see me getting all upset over it. I have had so many things taken away from me many times from layoffs that I am NUMB from the pain already. Maybe it was your first time at going BK, but I have felt like I have gone BK like 15 times already.

So please stop getting pissed off. You offend me when you do that. It's only material stuff. You didn't come into this world with it and you won't leave this world with it neither, so stop making such a big deal about it. You can always make more money and buy whatever you lost all over again, or after the economy comes back.

I just heard that the Dade County school board is giving the axe to people there. They planned this a long time ago. Maybe you should go and tell them how irresponsible they will be once they are evicted as well.

Stop pointing fingers unless you know the full story. You were not in my shoes at the time I was left homeless so you have no right to judge me.

I try to be uplifting in my posts and get a smile. I don't need you to post nasty comments during these bad times. I'm already going through enough stress as it is without people like you getting offended at my posts. Stop being offended. That offends me when you get offended, so knock it off fast.

          Thanks and good day.

I guess you missed my point. BK debt is not a competition or laughing matter.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Please keep your anger to yourself. The rest of us are depressed enough as it is and don't need to see negative comments without any sense of humor. Please be uplifting. Thanks.

That's a lotta money, isn't it? Do you know how many years it would take to pay that off with my lame income which is now dwindling down to like $20-30k? If I were to apply $500/mo. to that amount, how many years could it possibly take?

I appreciate all the advice this board has given me, I will be filing soon I am just trying to put time between $$ being spent and BK.

As you can see my #'s are very big, thats why sometimes even after reading other posts I just don't think my case will be smooth sailing like many of you. I will be the guy they make an example of...............do they still do public hangings? Lol
I had a similar situation with I belive around 1 mil in debt....Everything went fine. Nobody ever even looked at a Bank Statement or Tax return.

You're so lucky to have a trustee who just wanted to push things through. That would be nice if I could have smooth sailing like that. I think these people are going to want 2 years of bank statements and hound me... just because. I always have bad luck.

For starters, most people would learn from their mistakes if they've been laid off even once, let alone as many times as you claim. If you have such a history of losing jobs, why on earth would you purchase a BMW @$740/month (not even inclusing the insurance and gas!)?? You are the epitome of what is wrong with our society today and why our economy is in this terrible mess. Where do you get this sense of ENTITLEMENT?

I recall from your previous post that you just got health insurance via your wife's job. Yet, you are considering having her quit her job and giving up those benefits because her take home pay is "too small." I guess it's better for her to sit on her rear all day and make nothing while you continue to complain about having no money. You've also said you haven't found a day job in 3 years. Have you applied at Mcdonald's? How about the mall? Stop whining and do something to change your situation.

McDonalds is 28 miles away from here. It wasn't me who made that stupid means test. There's millions of people who are pissed off about it and think it's ridiculous. I'm sure we're not the only one who had one or both people quit their jobs to pass the means test.

I'm entitled to drive that BMW. Other people who have one are no more special than me. Everyone should have one, or at the very least a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

You're entitled to drive that BMW until the repo man takes it away! After that, I hope you charged some nice Reeboks on that Macy's card cause you're gonna need them for the 56 mile round trip commute to Mickey D's.
