    Car reaffirmation mystery?

Hi all. I have a car loan in my name, my wife is a co-borrower on the loan. The CH 7 BK filing is in my name only.

SO I called Chase Auto Finance the other day and sai "Hi. Can you please send me the reaffirmation paperwork since I am planning on reaffirming my car loan?" [Note that the KBB value is $25k, the car loan has $29K left on it, but I need the car for the kids.]

No paperwork received yet, but I noticed that the website access where I used to be able to see my account is disabled for my account. I was *planning* on pushing payments to Chase that way since they may likey NOT send me stmts until the BK is resolved.

So, question #1, how do I stay 'current' on my account with them if in fact they have disabled the website?

Next question. My wife is a co-borrower, so even if I decided not to reaffirm the loan, doesnt that mean that they cannot show up and take away the car since she is still liable? (Although she would not be current if they stopped taking payment on the websites and no paper statememts?"

    WTF??!? Any thoughts?

    Thank you.

OH, YES, thoughts. They shut you down and closed your account, I mean, froze it. Your wife is definatly liable for the car. I cosigned and I know. You have been locked out and better tell your lawyer. Now you can 'pay through' or reaffirm. That is your decision. But that is the way it is now. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

How do I make payments if a) they do not send statements anymore and b_ I cant access the webpayment system on Chase? I suppose I can try the tele-prompt system??

Allowing you online access might be considered a violation of your bankruptcy stay, that is most likely why access has been cut. Just sent them a payment via US Mail. I'm sure the web site will have the address. I suppose since your wife co-signed the loan, if you go belly up and don't otherwise satisfy the debt, they will just go after her, since that is the whole point of requiring you to have a co-signer in the first place.

American Honda Finance shut down my online access for a few months until after the BK was discharged. I just sent the payments via mail, and after a while they turned it back on. Never reaffirmed either.

Hey IRA - I just went into my car payment website to and it says status - invalid. So i cannot pay online either. I will call my attorney tomorrow and ask what to do. I have a paymetn due on the 28th, which I am late. BUT now i am wondering are we allowed to go into our grace period when we file? or is it due on the due date?

You can send the payment via mail (just write the account number down on the check). Or better yet, does your bank offer online bill pay? We are doing a ride-through with Chase and have been paying them via my bank's online bill pay with no problem at all. This is the preferred way of paying since you have third-party record of the payment being sent in case of a problem

A check, envelope and a stamp would probably suffice. That's what I've been doing for my mortgage and car since I got shut off from their websites.

you will have to call them and get a payment address which is probably different than any payment addresses you might have had b/4 bankrupcy. remember, they can't contact you.

None of the loans I have been making payments on have changed the only one that have locked the statements on are the ones I stopped paying on.
They can send informational notices to you.
