    Certified letter - why?

Quick question, prob nothing to loose sleep over but tomorrow I have to pick up a certified letter from the attorneys representing the rental house I included in my BK.
No reaffirmation agreement was made and of course the house was included in the CH 7 BK. What would this certified letter be? I do know its been close to 6 months since the Sheriff Sale so I am wondering if they still have to notify me - mainly because we have a 6 month redemption period.

Not really freaking out because this was in the petition and closed. Just don't know why the attny from the mortager are sending me a packet?

Then, please do not worry. Certified is like green card. It proves you go whatever. Probably some sort of closier. Quit worrying. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

Nothing to worry about. Just official business. They need to document that they sent you something, that's all.

You have to look at it this way. If it's some notice of pre-petition debt... so what... it's discharged!

Well went to get the CERT letter from the post office. Looks like they want me to appear in court to REDUCE THE REDEMPTION PERIOD.

Why do I get those letters when the rental house was closed in the CH7 BK?

Official stuff I suppose? Anyway, I assume I don't need to go, right?

If it's court ordered you have to go. However, if it's the bank then I wouldn't think you have to go. Maybe you can get them to write you a nice letter on how you didn't make them wait out the full redemption period. You never know if you want to do business with these people again.

              Thanks Mi BK
Reading the document it states: "If you wish to contest Plantiff's complaint, you must appear at the time specified above. If you do not appear the following Order may be entered shortening the redemption period to five (5) weeks:"

Then under the signature of the deputy it says: "Attendance is not required at the hearing except to contest the relief sought"

So, I guess that answere that? Moreless, I am being Mr. Nice guy giving the bank the house sooner-than-later

As you've already concluded, you do not have to appear. You only appear or file a response if you contest the matter. The Bank is just going through the motions so that it doesn't need to wait the full redemption period.

                See, that wasn't so bad.
