Discharged But Not Closed?

Do all courts report closed?

I am discharged but nothing says closed. What's the deal with this? Will I receive notification on closed?

Discharged is the important point for you.

Closing is an administration function. Some courts close only one day a month. Asset cases cannot be closed until all non exempt assets are liquidated and the proceeds distributed against the claims by creditors on the case.

I was discharged 8/27 but as of today am still not closed. I had a fairly simple chpt7 no asset. They have been very fast to record everything except the closing. Not sure why... I am going to call but will wait another week to see if the 1 day a month closings is the case here.

Closing can be fast or it can take weeks to do, it all depends on how the court does their closings.

Being discharged the most important part.

We're and asset case. We were discharged on August 13, 2008, but won't close until sometime next year, after we have made all our payments.

My 2004 bankruptcy was discharged in October 2004, and closed sometime in December.
