Can you open a bank account?

I am unclear on bank accounts and my 341 isn't until Oct.

On my current accounts, will they strip the MC off the debit card?

Can I open another account at another bank within this time?
(we are moving.) Will it look like another asset I am not claiming?

    Thanks

I am not sure about it after you file, we open our new account before we actually filed.

Are you leaving the lovely state of CA?

If you are moving, that is a good reason to transfer your account. I would just do it, and not have too much money in it. You may mention this change to your Trustee at your 341. I think it would be a non event in any case. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

Hi cali, yep, we are Good guess! I was born here so the people part is very hard. Experiencing that part right now.

On the other side, it's a fresh start! The emotions are a lot like the BK!

Well you can look at it as new start on everything. And I am sure wherever you go, unless NY, it will be cheaper than SoCal. LOL

Is it hard to get that MC put back on your debit card after a BK?

Nope, not NY We are moving to Colorado. When things get tough during this, we have a family mantra "two states over one state up".

I'm still making money, so I won't be going for awhile. Only earner at the moment. So I can't change my profile yet!

my understanding of it is that the trustee only cares about any accounts open on the day of filing. you're free to open a new account after filing. not sure if it'll be difficult to get the MC-backed debit card or not - let us know!

                good luck!
