How much are your attorney fees?

I'm in Florida & have been charged well over 6,000. for attorney fees. What have you paid? Has anyone agreed to an hourly rate?

Our attorney has been summoned to appear in court to Show Cause. Has anyone dealt with this situation? We think the fees have been excessive (for the level of service provided-another story!), considering there hasn't been any complications or re-affirmations other then a buy back agreement with the trustee. Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.

If interested, I posted recently similar questions about amending schedules, still looking for some feedback. Thanks to all!

In Ca. so far I've been quoted anywhere from $750 to $2800 for a more complicated C7. I certainly hope the judge throws the book at this guy and you get a big fat refund!!!!Amazing

I paid $1800 which includes the filing fee. I hope everything goes smoothly because anything extra that happens, is not covered.

I think my friend paid about $2200 (in CA). 6K sounds like a lot. Is the attorney some kind of specialist (or are there special circumstances?)
            Dude, seriously, see an attorney.

I have been quoted between 2k and $7500.

The $7500 lawyer either must of thought I was an idiot (He knew he was my first consult), or he was going to play very dirty for me. I am not willing or interested in taking that risk!

Ms Venicehope........DANG!!! Daggnnabbit. We hired our BK attorney for around 2K; $500 to retain, and $1500.00 to finish. Now granted, she wasn't the best, and if you search on our very earliest posts starting mid April and follow them to current, you will see our problems and angst.

If you have paid THAT kind of money, that attorney should be holding your hand each and every step of the way!!! And if he/she/it has been summoned to show cause, then YOU be there with every itemized statement showing your transactions with this person. This is ONE hearing you MUST be at because it is in YOUR best interest.

Since this is involving your case, I would DEMAND an item by item break-down of the charges on your account from the attorney's office. Meanwhile, make sure that you are keeping all of your paperwork.

                          Good luck.

PS, you might want to investigate the State Bar, or your local Clerk of Court for standard Attorney Fees for one hour. Example: our good attorney that handles all our other business, etc., charges $180.00 per hour. That includes the total of telephone questions, and his time in research to answer one question. He does not do BKs.

I paid 1500 including the filing fee. That is for the basic BK. I am sure I will be paying more since my BK doesn’t fit neatly into the basic.
