Debtor Education Course

I have searched the forum and found one post that says you can do the POST class "Debtor Education Course" after filing but before the 341.

Is this true? I would rather get it over with

Originally the attorney told me "around the time of the 341" but I did the class days after filing and the attorney had already uploaded the certificates to PACER just two weeks after filing.

We're still a week away from out 341 at this point and nobody has said anything. It doesn't seem to be a problem and I figured the worst that could happen is I'd need to take it over again and pay twice. CFEFA had the (long, dry and boring) class for $15 so I'm not too worried.

Technically, you can complete the 2nd required course after the 341 (I forget how many days you have post meeting) but it is usually good to get it out of the way pre 341. Our attorney advised us to do that, and during our meeting our trustee did ask us if we had completed the course and what we thought of it. Another couple he saw before us had not completed it and he rather firmly told them to get it done post haste. I think by completing it before the meeting it shows a good faith effort on your part, but that's just MO.

I did mine a few days after filing. My atty told me it's better to get it done sooner rather than later. He said it's best if I do it before the 341.

You can do your second course anytime after you file. I did my second one before the 341 and filed it with the court when I went to my 341 (so I wouldn't have to make another trip).

That's kind of funny... why would the post bankruptcy filing class talk about collection practices? Isn't the purpose to get away, make a fresh start, and not have collections again?

Our class said nothing like that. It was pretty good, in covering the basics of good financial management. A good refresher for anyone.

Also, our 341 meeting is September 22, and we just did our class this morning. At least that is done and over with!

I was bored out of my mind when I did my class. I can't really say that I learned anything new during it. Just put into one place all those little things I had learned over the years. And the 2 hour requirement, what a load of bovine scatology, I could have finished the class in 20 minutes. So I read a bit, answered email, answered a ? or 2, read and posted here, went back for another section, made breakfast, read a little more, took a shower, and well, you get the picture. But it's over and done with.

my 341 was a week ago, and i just finished my post-filing education this weekend due to financial constraints (ok, negative balance, hehe). hoping to get the cert. within 3 days, and hoping even more that this won't be an issue with the bk court/trustee. trustee didn't say anything about it at 341.

anyone else complete the 2nd ed post 341? if so, did you get any drama over it?

Did mine after the 341 and the trustee never asked us about it at the 341. It was mentioned in his announcements to the group before he began but nothing said to us individually.

Well, finished my class last night and so did DH. I'm with TS... plus ranting in between about some of the info.....

Looks like quite a few of us we getting "educated" this weekend. My DH did learn some stuff which was good.

We had our 341 on Aug 14 and the trustee did not mention the post filing class, but we plan to do it in the next couple of days. Anyone know what the deadline is?
