Is this outfit appropriate for my 341?

I don't want to seem superficial, but I don't want to raise red flags with the trustee.

It's a white and blue striped shirt, gray vest, and a white lace tank underneath. I'll be wearing it with Khaki Pants. It's the same type of thing I'd wear to work.

Is it too dressy, or is it ok?

there were some extremely casual people at my 341 (St. Paul, MN); the trustee didn't seem to bat an eye. there were a couple of people who looked like they rolled out of bed (awful hair, baggy t shirt, flip flops) - i would have been insulted if i was the trustee, but who knows. she didn't treat them any different.

i'd say what you have picked out is just fine. go very conservative with jewelry, makeup and hair. and be polite (there were a couple of people with what seemed like giant chips on their shoulders too, i felt bad for them, but they didn't need to wear their bk like a badge of pain and misery..)

I wore much the same kind of outfit--khaki capri pants, brown and pink striped button-down shirt with a pink cami underneath. What I wore to work that day. And yes-- I wore cute flip flops.

That said, this is Texas. There were lawyers in years, Birks; filers in shorts and flip flops. One woman came in scrubs. No one batted an eye.

I am sure you will do fine in your clothing choice; just wear comfortable shoes, if you think you may have to park a way form the court--ours is downtown, and I planned on walking quite a bit, but I ended up getting a metered space right across the street!!

I like your choice. I don't think it's "too" dressy. I dressed business casual too but most of the people at my 341 were in Jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes, etc....

I don't think anyone cared but I think it's best to dress respectfully whenever you are going into any type of court room.

Another question, I have - I put my engagement ring on my exemptions, but should I even wear it to the 341? Also, I have a costume jewelry horseshoe necklace I plan on wearing. Should I scrap that idea?

If it is a smaller engagement ring go ahead and wear it but not if it's 3 carat Tacori ring or something else that might be considered extravagant. The horseshoe necklace is fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

It's a 3/4 carat princess cut on a white gold band. So it's very traditional, not insanely huge. Sounds like I'll be ok.
