    Did You Get These Too?

Ever since I filed for BK, every day in the mail I get offers from auto dealers wanting me to give my current car back to the bank and get one through them. They promise to give me a lower interest rate, blah, blah, blah.

Did any of you experience this?

I ignored them and trashed them

Nope, the only thing I get are postcard from debt management companies. Um, isn't it a little late for that??

No, we haven't gotten anything about the car, but we get tons of pre-approved CC offers, which get shredded and burned.

I throw mine away, too. I was thinking about calling one and telling them that if they can give me like a 4% interest rate (currently paying 10%) and lower my payments by $100.00 a month, I might consider it.

Oh yeah, they probably would, but, they probably also think I'm like every other sucker who will fall for their sales pitches. I might have before, but these days, I know what I want and if I don't get it, I walk. Plain and simple.

Yep, it's a bait-and-switch. Did you read the fine print?

We haven't gotten credit or car offers. I don't know if it's because we opted out on our CR's or they just haven't sent them.

I didn't read it, but if I were considering doing such a thing, you can bet I'd take the contract home and read every word at my leisure.

Wait until you get discharged - auto dealers and other creditors wait like vultures for the discharge information to become available and you will be deluged with offers from dealerships on car loans and all sorts of other BK filer information ("Boy do we have a BK filer deal for you!" sort of stuff). For us, along with all that, we also received vacation brochures from various travel agents (we never asked for nor received them in the past). Everyone is out to make money and to make it also on the newly BK discharged. If one responds to any of these offers, do your homework as to the company and check all the fine print on everything before signing.

We've been getting similar offers, along with credit card offers from the same companies who were included in our BK, and we are still 58 days from discharge..
