Just got back from our 341 meeting. It went pretty smooth. UST was not present, which our lawyer thought was a good sign, making it unlikely they will get involved.
We were the 2nd meeting of the day. There were only a handful of people in the room. We were asked the following questions:
- he asked a bunch of standard yes/no questions (are you party to a lawsuit, expecting an inheritance, is this your correct address, etc.)
- He noted we were upside down on the house, and asked if we were current and intended to keep the house
- Asked if we had owned any real estate prior to our current house (we owned our previous house 4 years ago), and if so did we sell and what we did with the money (used it as a down payment for our current house)
- We prorated our excise tax on the our schedule J, and he asked how we came up with that number, and made a note of it.
- We had also prorated our tax refund for next year, and he asked us approximately how much we expected back next year. I told him around $6k, and he made a note of it (not sure why, our lawyer believes he doesn't have any recourse in trying to get his hands on it)
- Asked if my DH planned on returning to work in the near future (not anytime soon)
- Our BOA credit line has a balance of $51k, so he asked where that money went. We had used it to consolidate other credit cards a couple of years ago, and he seemed fine with that answer.
And that was about it. He wished us luck and let us go. No questions on our stimulus, no questions on our tax refund that we received in March, no questions with regards to any changes in income since filing. Total time took about 10 minutes.
So now we are officially a member of the 60-day club. Hoping for smooth sailing here on in
Big thanks to everyone on this board! We were a little nervous but also felt very prepared because of the info and support from everyone on here
