    gas expense

Hello Im a courier, I use my own vehicle for work. My fuel expense is about 800 a month. Will this be allowed by the trustee if i file?

Are you under or over the median income? If you are over the median your gas allowance is limited to the IRS guidelines for your specific area. As far as Schedule I/J, you would list your actual gas expense, there.

i think because your fuel expense is tied to your job you won't have an issue. likely the trustee will ask for more information as to why the expense is so high but you can back it up with your receipts and job desc.

With the price of gas, that doesn't seem so high to me. You'd think the courts would make adjustments in expense allowances, considering what's going on with gas and food prices. Even the IRS adjusted their mileage allowance to 58.5 /mile.

I think you will need to save your receipts to show the trustee your actual expense.

Since you are using your own car as part of your employment, I would save every receipt for everthing tied to the car: oil changes, tires, maintenance. If you do your own oil changes, save the receipts for the oil, filters, air cleaners, everything.

My husband is a statutory employee (receives W2) and he was able to use his gas receipts, I'm under the impression that if you are also a 1099 employee you can as well.
