    Ride through question

When you do a ride through are you supposed to continue paying during the time period after you file and are awaiting 341/discharge?

The reason I ask is, I dont think Im gonna be able to get any kind of ride (car) until october, but they may very well ask for my car back at the 341 in a few days. I was current on the payments before I filed, but have missed one since filing. I might be able to scrape some money together to make the payment as I cannot live without a car, but isnt it a no-no to pay your blls during the process? If you are supposed to pay during the process then is a ride through o longer an option for me being that ive missed a payment?

Ive looked all over the internet and cannot find answers to these specific questions.
Not only am I not a lawyer, the California BAR association has sent me numerous letters telling me not to even THINK about going to law school. In fact, the lay advice I provide is not even good. In the end remember, you get what you pay for, and here in BK land were not the best at paying.

For property you are keeping (car/house) you are suppose to make the payments through the filing process. THey can't mail you a bill though because of the stay so you have to be proactive about it.

If you plan on keeping it you have to be current on the payment. And you keep paying it every month.

I was late a during the time from my 341 to discharge. I survived...they didn't ask for my vehicle back. I did make a payment during the month it was due though so it was never 30 days late (not that it matter, I don't know!). At the time of my 341 I was about 20 days late and they did not show up nor did they file an objection. My discharge was yesterday so now I know I have to definitely keep current!

Keep the payment up and on-time as much as possible. However, keep in mind that with the gas prices now, it is a buyer's market for vehicles--especially larger gas guzzlers. What the lending companies might have demanded repossession of a year ago, may not be true today. I was listening to a somewhat similar discussion on the Clark Howard radio show on the way home from work. Check out his website: clarkhoward.com. He is a consumer advocate.

Great advice, I used to listen to Clark Howard on KFI 640 (In SoCal).
