    Another Question-Sorry! Notifying Creditors

I am so keyed up that I can't sleep. Can you tell? LOL

    Anyhoo....As I posted in another thread, I'm filing tomorrow morning..but there's a question...

How long does it take for the creditors to get wind of the filing? I have a garnishment that I want stopped POST HASTE, so I'm wondering if I should call their attorney and give him my case number?? I'm hoping to thwart yet another deduction from my paycheck this week.

Hi Debs, I answered your question on your other post. If you file tomorrow, most everyone on your creditor matrix should get the word by Friday. If you will feel uneasy with that, then YES, once you get your case number, call the opposing attorney and hand over the case number.

Good luck, and KNOW that 'Hub and I are PROUD of you. Our Best~~~

More importantly, let your payroll department know you filed and give them the case number, they are the ones that are doing the garnishment.

      Good Luck

BKP is right. I didn't think of that. Good point. Good luck!

Just to be safe you might want to do it in a manner that leaves some type of paper trail as well, as opposed to just calling. Fax, overnight mail, etc.
Not only am I not a lawyer, the California BAR association has sent me numerous letters telling me not to even THINK about going to law school. In fact, the lay advice I provide is not even good. In the end remember, you get what you pay for, and here in BK land were not the best at paying.

Ahhh, faxing the payroll department is a good idea. Thanks!
