Can you get into trouble by looking at Pacer?

When I go to the VA BK site it says:

"This facility is for Official Court Business only. Activity to and from this site is logged. Document filings on this system are subject to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11 and Federal Rule of Bankruptcy Procedure 9011. Evidence of unauthorized or criminal activity will be forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement officials under 18USC152 and 3571."

Only if you're using the information for fraud or criminal activity.

Just to browse your own stuff, or look at samples from others, no.

    BK's are public record.

Also note you are charged for viewing pages...it is not free. Be careful if you don't know this cause some folks posting on here ran up several hundred dollars worth of costs without knowing it.

Ms. Flamingo is correct. The charge is $.08 per page, and it doesn't look like much, but it adds up very quickly. 'Hub and I are a couple that have run our PACER bill up unwittingly. *OUCH!*

Eight cents doesn't sound like much, until you keep clicking...

I stopped after $7.00. There wasn't any changes on it anyway.
          I'm still not closed, either.

Did you find the billing history accurate? I feel like I've looked alot and it's only $4.00.

I'm not going to get hit with a crazy bill am I? I am only at 4 like it says and not some unseen amount right?

My local court gives filers the option of getting emails everytime PACER is updated for their case. In that email it gave us all the information we needed to get onto pacer and view the documents, plus a link.

So I know in my district our laywers and BK court and quite happy with filers keeping track of their case on PACER.

Thanks all. I'm in, but Pacer is SLOW today, VA anyway.
