Best News I've had so far...

Despite a BK, surrendering my home soon, and pending job loss...

I just received good news that my son with ADHD qualified for SSI benefits and Medicaid...

It's been a 6 month battle trying to get him some financial support. I am single, with no CS from his father, and with 2 kids, things have been tough.

Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.

      That is great news.

I didn't know ADD or ADHD kids could get SSI/Medicaid.

I researched SSA's website...and that is considered a permanent disability.
I also knew someone else who's child qualified, and they suggested I apply.

But oh! what a lot of red tape and paperwork it took.... from the doctors, school teachers, diagnosticians, psychologists, etc.

My daughter is ADD, she was diagnosed last November.

I know this is one less worry for you.

Cali, check it out. My son was diagnosed last October, I called SSA in january, they declined the first go round. I reapllied in May, and I got my letter stating he was approved for the DI and the medical care.

Dear BK2009: That is wonderful news for you, and a little bit of a break.

                      P.S.

On my divorce from a woman I loved but just could not live with, kids out of house, I insisted to pay her alimony. I paid it into her marraige and her health insurance one year until SHE stated I needed to stop. I knew that but then I had money and I felt badly for her as it was I that just HAD to get out. I am happily married now, and my ex and I are still friends. She has become a widow since, and I do not keep up with her except through the kids. I still love her, Ms. Cat understands. Is this strang? To some perhaps, to me, no. 'Hub

Been there, done that. When it crosses state lines, our illustrious AG's office doesn't have the wherewithall to cross them lines.

Although I heard he received papers from CS, I haven't seen anything magical happen from dad or the system.

Then you know......BOTH of my school age children have speech therapy, special ed, etc.

I also applied for SSI on my daughter...they tested her IQ at a few point above MR (it's a 5 point scale up or down, whiat I understand). Hers will also be a lifetime disability.
