    Bank Accounts

Just curious on how many people have had to show their bank account statements to the court?

    Thanks,

I think it varies from district to district, trustee to trustee. Some want to see several months (even a year), others none at all

We had to provide a print-out for the last six months to our attorney. She also wanted all paystubs for the past six months. She was NOT happy that I could not provide a statement as to the Unemployment benefits that I was getting. All I could get was a statement of when the benefit started, how much I was entitled to per week and the total amount. Of course any wages I earn during a given pay period is subtracted from my benefit, and I get the difference, which can vary. So she had to be satisfied with the deposit highlighted on the bank statement.

Eight months of statements in our case... the six months preceding filing and two months after filing. These included checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, 401Ks, pension, Employee Stock, eBay... anything that could be loosely defined as an "account".

Our 341 is Monday afternoon, the only thing we have to take with us are our bank statements showing how much money was in our accounts on the day we filed. These are the only bank statements we've had to provide through the whole bk process.

Edited to add; just noticed this is in the chap 7 forum, we are filing a 13. Don't know if we would have had to provide more if we were going for a 7 (which we thought about since we could do either).

I am a non-consumer chapter 7 and my trustee is very thorough so I needed to provide 12 months of bank statements for my personal and business accounts.

Good thread. I was wondering about this.

              Belle,

I am a chap 7, even though business debt is involved. Due to a fradulent transfer, I had to wait out two years to file.

One year bank statements would not be bad even, but my fear is that they delve further and pick up this transfer from two years ago.

The attorney I met with assures me that two years is the magic number and says it will not be a problem. But, I am still worried they might ask for bank statements from more than one year ago.

Can't wait to get this done.

How much was the fraudulent transfer for? Since you waited two years, were you dealing with creditor calls and threats that entire time?

Same as another poster here and he is also waiting two years.

Money as gift to support family members totalling 40k.

I am judgment proof so the two years has not been bad at all. I am not a thin skinned person, though. Calls, judgments, etc. do not phase me. I just take it a day at a time. It will all be fine soon.

Ugh, I hope I don't have to provide more than 6 months worth of bank statements. I am BKing the last checking account with a credit union and not sure I have them all. (I might but finding them could prove challenging). I just don't think that my charming CU is going to want to help me out with this one.

Talk about a brain fart. I just remembered that I printed all CU bank statements from last year out online as soon as I knew things were going south. Sheesh. But, then again, YAY me!
