While I think its nice that Pacer is a place to check the status of our cases. I also think its just terrible that its not easier to use. Its extremely expensive even at 8 cents a page and WAY to easy to click and go back etc...

They charge you for looking at a page that contains absolutely NOTHING. That to me makes no sense. This is OUR own personal information, we have already paid so many fees to file bankruptcy. You would think that because we are active in our bankruptcy cases that they would appreciate that we want to be informed. It should be our right to see this information whenever we chose.

I posted recently about being careful on Pacer as I was charged for 100+ pages of something that I honestly do not recall ever clicking on.

I am at the point where I sign on and then just check the last date of filing. If its a new date then I proceed. Its been a hard lesson learned and I have enough charges now that I wish I had never even discovered the Pacer site!!!

Keep in mind, PACER was NOT designed for public use. It was first designed for the court, then they "added" the ability for attorneys to log in and use the system. There really was no purposeful design to allow the public to use it. About all they did is partition user account access to allow various levels of access to the database.
