    Cleaning up credit report

    I checked my credit report today through myFico.com for all three agencies.

    Transunion = 507
    Equifax = 513
    Experian = 566

    Skipping so many payments prior to filing took it's toll. My question is regarding one account from "Crap One" that is reporting as Charged off as bad debt or loss. It should say IIB right?

    Also, if I reaffirmed a debt, do they start reporting on-time payments immediately or do they wait until the discharge? Is this something I should request in writing or is it automatic?

    Thanks again.

    Yes, late payments before BK takes quite a toll on your credit. Having a good credit history before your BK looks better when all is said and done. It shows you were able to manage credit before, and although you have this one hic-up, you can still be creditworthy based on your past. In a case like this, time is the best credit healer. Those lates will be there for next several years and you need to let time pass so those lates fall off.

    When you reaffirm a debt, the creditor should start reporting after your discharge.
